Danica Mastilovic RIP

I only ever documented Danica Mastilovic as Elektra, 1975 and 1978.  She was a powerful Elektra.  It was fun.  In 1975 the Crysothemis was Teresa Kubiak.

Her mother, Klytaemnestra. was Astrid Varnay. Their scene together was epic.

Happy curtain call in 1975.
In 1978  her mother was Mignon Dunn.
Crysothemis was Eva Marton.
During these years I always tried to get the final Death Dance in camera. This involved shooting several images without advancing the film. There was no way to judge what I was getting. First images from life to death.

This was not planned. I was so caught up in the  moment that I got Crysothemis stumbling into the death dance.

To all the Mastilovic fans and family members my heartfelt condolences. It's a pleasure to share these few memories.

Graham Clark,, RIP

Sadly Graham Clark passed away this week. He was a sublime artist vocally and dramatically.  Most of my documentation is  on film, not digital.  From 1991 GHOST OF VERSAILLES  1991. He was Bergearss.   I included the image with the children, because now they're adults. If they see this post they may get a smile.

MAKROPOLUS  AFFAIR  1996 and 1998. He was Gregor. First scene with Donald McIntyre  and Jessye Norman

In 1998 with Catherine Malfitano
WOZZECK, performed 1989-2005 as the Captain.  This is from the 2005 take, digital.

ARIADNE AUF NAXOS  2001. The Dance Master.
With Wolfgng Brendel, the Music Master.
With Lyubov Petrova as Zerbinetta.
Mime.  In Siegfried 1997-2000.  The Rheingold scene is too dark, but he was Mime in that opera as well.

The last set, LULU 2010, digital. He did three roles, the Prince, the Servant and the Marquis. role ID entered under the copyright credit line.

I loved it when Graham was on stage. He was real to the marrow of his bones, always honorable.

I'm thankful to have witnessed his art.  To all the colleagues, friends, family my heartfelt condolences.

Dear Graham, THANK YOU!!!!!       RIP
