Lohengrin digital games

From 2006, digital games,, BenHeppner as Lohengrin, "Mein Liebe Schwann, Schwann, Schwann"
Lohengrin again... oh good grief! Kein Schwann. That's okay. Canada geese, Canada tenor.
The big Four... Heppner as Lohengrin, Karita Mattila as Elsa, below, Richard Paul Fink as Telramud and Luana Devol as conniving Ortrud.

The same four. Manipulations are fun.  With this 2006 production it was easy. It was a mostly blank  canvas.

Ortrud, 1985, Acts 2 and 3

Rysanek with Eva Marton as Elsa. She gives comfort to this unhappy wife (who's really evil).

Bide by me. Ask him who he is. She's naive.

Second scene, before the wedding. Probe! Probe!
Into the third act where Ortrud will die.

I didn't shoot many images in color. B/W works best for deep emotions.
Ortrud and Telramund.

Rysanek with Lohengrin, Peter Hoffmann.

That's all for now.

Ortrud, Act II, 1985

Act II is Ortrud's act, scheming with her husband, Telramund, this time Leif Roar, and getting around to lure Elsa out of her castle. The use of voice, face, hands and body was gripping. Ortrud, 100%. A memory to treasure.

To be continued.

Ortrud, Act I ,1985

Leonie Rysanek, Ortrud in the flesh, LOHENGRIN Dec. 1985. These are all from Act I.  There was a scrim in place, pattern picked up by lens.  In this Act Ortrud does not do much singing, but she has to react to the action. All emotions on her face. Standing still. There is power in this. I could not take my eyes off her.  You have to learn this opera to understand what was happening. Ortrud is one of the greatest roles in the opera literature.

  Great horns in Lohengrin.

To be continued with Act II.

Sadly, Joy Davidson passed away Feb. 6, 2023.  It was always fun and exciting when she was on stage. We first met at PRINCE IGOR, New York City Opera, Feb. 1969, her debut. She was Kontchakovna.  John Stewart was Vladimir Igorevitch.

December 1969 she was the Mother in AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS, at New York City Center. Robert Puleo was Amahl.  Shot from the wings during performances.

CARMEN, New York City Opera, 1971.

Don Jose was Michele Molese
Carmen in 1979, New York City Opera, with Riccardo Calleo as Don Jose. Shot from the wings during performance.

I'll never forget her performances.

My condolences to all her friends  and family.

Dear Joy, thanks for the fun.   RIP
